Neck Spurs (Cervical Bone Spur)

Neck spurs happen when ligaments and tendons around the bones and joints in the cervical spine are damaged and inflamed. The damaged or inflamed tissue influences bone growth, so bone would grow where they normally wouldn’t. Many older people have cervical osteophyte growth because it’s often caused by cervical osteophytes which most old people have. The cervical osteophyte growth is stimulated by inflamed or damage tissue. Bone spurs in the neck can resemble the hem of a ruffle dress or dripped wax built-up at the bottom of the candle. Some bone spurs are normally painless but if the neck spur is on the the individual spinal nerves, the spinal cord, the vertebral discs, or the blood vessels in the region of the cervical vertebral column.
